When do I receive my first check?

Question

When do I receive my first check?

Answer

If you are a new publisher and you have not yet received your first check it could be for any or all of the following reasons:

You have not reached the minimum commission payment threshold.

Minimum Payout for Direct Deposit (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $50.00

CAD: $50.00

EUR: €25.00

GBP: £25.00

SEK: 300.00

Minimum Payout for Check (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $100.00

CAD: $100.00

EUR: €60.00

GBP: £50.00

SEK: 600.00

[Note: Minimum payment amount is based on the functional currency that is used to calculate commissions in your CJ Account Manager?, regardless of the currency you have selected to receive payment.]

You are a new publisher and it has been less than a month since you have joined Commission Junction.

You have reached the minimum commission payout level, but your transactions are too recent and they have not yet been reviewed by the advertiser. The transactions must first be put in “locked” status by the advertiser in order to be paid out on the next pay cycle, which is on or around the 20th of each month.

Once you become eligible for a payment, your account must be reviewed by our Network Quality department to make sure your publisher program is in compliance with the Code of Conduct and Publisher Service Agreement. Since there are many new publishers that join Commission Junction every month this process can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days (from the time you first become eligible for payment).

You have not updated the Tax Information settings in your CJ Account Manager? by selecting one of the following online forms: (a) Form W-9 for U.S. citizens residing in or outside the U.S., (b) Form W-8 for non-U.S. citizens, or (c) Certification of No U.S. Activities. To update this information navigate to the Account > Administrative Settings tab, then click Edit in the Tax Information section.

Why was my payment declined?

Question

Why was my payment declined?

Answer

If there is a problem with your payment information that prohibits Commission Junction from making a payment to you, your payment may be held for one of the following reasons:

Missing Payee

Missing or innacurate Direct Deposit Information

Missing or undeliverable Address

Missing Tax Information

You can access your payment information to edit and correct any of the information listed above. Once your payment information is current and correct, the Hold is removed from your commission payment.

A payment can also be held if you have been notified of a potential compliance issue or you have not responded to a request for information from either the Program Compliance, Network Quality or Finance departments at Commission Junction.

Please check your email or the Mail interface in your CJ Account Manager? for any messages of this nature from Commission Junction. Follow the instructions in the mail message to answer an inquiry by Commission Junction about your account.

You are required to complete the Tax Information settings in your CJ Account Manager? by selecting one of the following online forms: (a) Form W-9 for U.S. citizens residing in or outside the U.S., (b) Form W-8 for non-U.S. citizens, or (c) Certification of No U.S. Activities. To update this information navigate to the Account > Administrative Settings tab, then click Edit in the Tax Information section.

When can I expect a payment to be processed?

Question

When can I expect a payment to be processed?

Answer

Payments for commissions earned in a prior month (or earlier) are processed on or around the 20th of each month and issued by check or direct deposit shortly thereafter. For direct deposit specifications click here.

You must meet the minimum payment threshold in order to qualify for payment processing. This means your commissions earned from any activity in a prior month (or earlier) must move from “pending” status and be “locked” and “closed”.*

*Transactions that are not locked and closed, e.g. commissions earned in the current calendar month or any commissions that have been extended, do not count toward the minimum balance for issuing a payment.

[Note: Minimum payment amount is based on the functional currency that is used to calculate commissions in your CJ Account Manager?, regardless of the currency you have selected to receive payment.]

Minimum Payout for Direct Deposit (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $50.00

CAD: $50.00

EUR: €25.00

GBP: £25.00

SEK: 300.00

Minimum Payout for Check (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $100.00

CAD: $100.00

EUR: €60.00

GBP: £50.00

SEK: 600.00

Transaction Extensions

Keep in mind that advertisers may extend any of your transactions one time for an additional month to allow them more time to make sure the transaction is valid, allow for any returned merchandise, confirm credit card processing, verify it is not a duplicate transaction or any other reason.

Check Payment Status

You can check payment status by logging into your CJ Account Manager? and clicking on the link next to your balance on the very top of your home page. Please note that your balance will drop in an amount equal to what you are being paid when we process your payment.

First Publisher Payment

If you have not received an initial payment from Commission Junction, your first payment could be delayed until the following billing cycle while our Network Quality group reviews your account to make sure your practices are in accordance with the Publisher Service Agreement and Code of Conduct.

Tax Information

Also, make sure your account is in compliance by submitting the appropriate tax information: IRS Form W-9 for U.S. citizens residing in or outside the U.S. and Form W-8 for non-U.S. citizens. Click here for information regarding submitting the correct tax form. Or, if you reside in a country where the VAT applies click here. For information on Swedish publisher taxes click here.

Payment on hold

If you have been contacted by our Program Compliance or Network Quality departments regarding any kind of issue, your payment may have been placed on hold until you reply to their inquiry. Please refer to the communication you received from them in your email or the Mail section of your CJ Account Manager?.

A payment may also be placed on hold if your Direct Deposit has been rejected or a Check has been returned due to an invalid address. To resolve these kinds of issues, login to your account and click on Contact Us and submit an incident to our Client Support team.

Why is Commission Junction changing the minimum payment amount for publishers?

Question

Why is Commission Junction changing the minimum payment amount for publishers?

Answer

In an effort to streamline our publisher payment process and better support environmentally conscious commerce, Commission Junction is revising its minimum payment amounts, effective August 28, 2008.

What is Changing?

We are revising the minimum amount in functional currency needed in your Commission Junction Publisher account to receive earned commission checks each month.

The changes are as follows:

Minimum Payout for Direct Deposit

USD: $50.00

CAD: $50.00

EUR: €25.00

GBP: £25.00

SEK: 300.00

Minimum Payout for Check

USD: $100.00

CAD: $100.00

EUR: €60.00

GBP: £50.00

SEK: 600.00

When Is It Changing?

The change will be effective August 28, 2008, and will affect the checks you would receive as part of September’s payout.

Why Is Commission Junction Making This Change?

To streamline our publisher payment process.

To offer publishers an incentive to switch to direct deposit because paper checks are less efficient, more costly and slower than the electronic option.

To drastically cut down on paper consumption and better support environmentally conscious commerce.

To better align our process with the industry because our minimum commission threshold to receive payment is, almost without exception, far below the current standard.

How Will It Impact You?

Simply stated, beginning in September you will be paid once your earned commissions meet or exceed the amount in the table above (based on functional currency and payout option).

If you wish to change payment methods, log in to your CJ Account Manager?, click the Account tab > Administrative Settings tab > Payment Information > Edit button. Changes should be made no later than August 28, 2008 to be in effect before the payments are processed in September.

We hope you will be able to utilize the direct deposit method of payment if you are not yet using it—it will ultimately benefit you and the environment.

How do I cancel my account?

Question

How do I cancel my account?

Answer

You may cancel your Commission Junction publisher account by sending a request to Client Support.

Click on Contact Us located at the top of your CJ Account Manager?. Then access the Ask a Question interface and choose the category Account Information and sub-category Cancel My Account.

Please review the following important information about voluntarily deactivating your publisher account:

If you have multiple accounts, make sure you are logged into the account you wish to deactivate when making your request. Requests to deactivate accounts other than the one from which you are making the request will not be processed.

If your account has been actively generating commissions and you qualify for a payment this will not affect you being paid for all closed transactions in the normal payout cycle.

If you have an account balance that is less than the standard minimum payout, please indicate specifically in the text of your deactivation request that you would like to receive final payment of the balance in your account (see table below for applicable minimum payment amount).

Final payment on balances less than the minimum payout is subject to the normal commission approval process.

Final payment may take as long as two pay cycles or up to 60 (sixty) days to process.

Minimum Payout for Direct Deposit (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $50.00

CAD: $50.00

EUR: €25.00

GBP: £25.00

SEK: 300.00

Minimum Payout for Check (effective August 28, 2008)

USD: $100.00

CAD: $100.00

EUR: €60.00

GBP: £50.00

SEK: 600.00

[Note: Minimum payment amount is based on the functional currency that is used to calculate commissions in your CJ Account Manager?, regardless of the currency you have selected to receive payment.]
